Today, July 27th marks the death anniversary of the former President of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. He was a renowned scientist and a recipient of the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor. He is popularly known as the 'Missile Man of India' for his immense contribution to the development of the Indian trajectory missile and launch vehicle technology.
On this day, we pay tribute to the great man and remember some of his remarkable achievements. Dr. Kalam was born on October 15, 1931, in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. Despite facing hardships in his student life, he persevered and achieved excellence in academics. He later went on to serve as the 11th President of India and worked for the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) as an aerospace scientist. He was also a part of the Pokhran-II nuclear test.
Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam was an inspiration to many and was especially popular among children. He often spoke to the country's youth and encouraged them to think big. He had also written a number of books such as India 2020, Vision for the new millennium, and Mission of India: A Vision of Indian Youth.
